They are not only clearly required by law, but also actually serve safety; every boat needs position lights. Today, general lighting is almost exclusively LED technology. The days when a bright and hot glowing wire in a glass bulb provided visibility on a boat are largely over. Today, light is generated in a much more energy-efficient and targeted manner on a semiconductor chip, the so-called light-emitting diode, or LED for short. LED postion lanterns are available on the market at affordable prices - unusual designs cost money.
